The Galibier Hill Climb is a pure test for climbers: 35 km of continuous ascent with 2,100 m of vertical gain, starting from Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne (710 m) and finishing at the legendary Col du Galibier (2,642 m).

The challenge begins immediately with the Col du Télégraphe (1,566 m): 12 km at 7% average gradient, a steady climb that already demands strength and rhythm. After a short descent into Valloire (1,405 m), riders face the decisive section.

The final 18 km to the Galibier are relentless, with the last 8 km above 2,000 m altitude. The slope rarely eases, staying between 7–9%, demanding full commitment all the way to the summit. At 2,642 m, the reward is a breathtaking panorama over the Cerces, Grand Galibier, La Meije, the Écrins massif, and even Mont Blanc on clear days.

Depending on the snow conditions at the Col du Galibier, which could lead to a delay in snow removal or a significant risk of avalanche, the services of the Departmental Council and the Prefecture may require the organizers to finish the race at the Galibier tunnel. , or 1 kilometer below the pass. This request can be made up to 24 hours before the event.
